Two - day Training Programme on Labour Laws Applicable To Factories

Proper understanding of various Labour Laws applicable to factories in Tamilnadu is not only an important function of the Personnel Department but the Management as a whole. Even the shift supervisor ought to know how to engage a worker on overtime or how to extend the working of the shift worker to the next shift and what are the pre-requisite for payment of wages for National Festival holidays. It will be surprising to note that there are 15 Labour Enactments directly being enforced by the Factory Inspectorate of Government of Tamilnadu and the Management seek remedies and guidance from the Labour Department authorities. Though the labour laws are being enforced by the Inspectorate for pretty a long time, still an Inspector who inspects a factory comes across many lapses on the part of the employers which ultimately lead to penal action,

It is not the intention of the Government to implement Labour Laws by pinpricking the employers. Nevertheless persistent failure to comply with law will naturally lead to logical conclusion. The Government of Tamilnadu is interested in educating employers or in creating the right attitude of the employers for facile implementation of labour laws.

It is in this context, the Tamilnadu Institute of Labour Studies an organ of State Labour and Factories Departments has designed a two day training programme on "Labour Laws Applicable To Factories for effective implementation. This will provide a good opportunity to the employers not only to be enlightened but to put across their difficulties and view points.auto
